Supplements Information

by Travis Hlavka

So what I’m going to do here is give you a complete breakdown of everything I’ve tried, what I liked, why I liked it, and what I’m currently taking. I will try to explain in as much detail as possible the “reported” benefits, and side effects (if any).

  • Other categories coming eventually
    • My all time favorites
    • Daily/General (like Protein, Vitamins, etc)
    • My complete supplement list from Z to A. (If you’re lazy like me and don’t want to do a lot of clicking to separate pages, I put them all on one page. This also include ALL the supplements I’ve tried… That I can remember)

Honestly, the only supplement that I have ever taken that I actually “really” worked great is creatine. Luckily I was in a nutrition class at the time (because I wanted to be a physical therapist at one time), and when I accidentally found it at a supplement store, I knew exactly what it did.

I had never taken any supplements before and since I had never heard of a creatine “supplement”, I thought, WOW, this seems awesome. I’m going to buy this tiny bottle of creatine monohydrate “sand” for $70 and see what happens. Yes, it was like sand, and yes, it was FREAKIN EXPENSIVE!! I remember buying 1000mg for $100. That was an awesome price! HAHA, now you can get 2000mg Creapure creatine monohydrate for less than $20.

I still bring creatine back into my program off and on, but the one supplement that’s a staple at ALL times is whey protein. (Shameless coupon code plug: My favorite protein is from True Nutrition. I’ll explain details in the supplements pages, but if you’re itchin to buy some, use True Nutrition discount code HLK926 at checkout for 5% off your order.) You can get good protein for as little as $32 per 5lbs without a bunch of crappy artificial crappiness.

Disclaimer: Consult Your Physician! I know nobody that enjoys my site is a complete idiot, but for those morons out there…. All statements made here concerning exercise or supplement recommendations are based on my results and experiences. Your results and experiences may vary. Consult your physician before beginning any exercise or supplementation program. If you’re too stupid to know that you are the only person responsible for you, then piss off and stop reading my content. Thanks

NOTE: I will make a couple bucks if you buy through my links. 92.13% of the time I buy from AllStarHealth, but occasionally I will buy at Bodybuilding.com or Amazon

I may act like a 12yr old a lot of the time, but that's because I have a genetic defect that will not allow me grow up. HOWEVER, I do take strength training and fitness very seriously and I love using what I know to help others reach their fitness goals and avoid the bazillion mistakes I've made in my 25+ yrs of training. Since I don't know everything, I never stop learning. Note: I am no longer a "certified" trainer, but I truly understand more about fitness and health now than I ever did with that official piece of paper.
